Everard Read – founded in 1912, the oldest commercial gallery is located on Jellicoe Avenue in Rosebank. Well-known exhibitors here include Phillemon Hlungwani, Percy Conquobe, Brett Murray, Brenda Shafir, Daniel Naudé and Penelope Stutterheime.
Keyes Art Mile – also located in Rosebank, the focus in this new gallery is on a skilful blend of art and architecture – where design, life, leisure, luxury and fun are seamless experiences.
Wits Art Museum – with a collection of more than 9,000 exceptional pieces built over 7 decades, a visit here is almost mandatory.
Cradle of Humankind – one of 8 World Heritage sites in the country and the only one in Gauteng the area is known as the site of the origin of humanity. It was here that the first hominid Australopitecus was discovered in 1924.
Apartheid Museum – it dominated every aspect of South African life.
Hector Pieterson Memorial – located in Soweto, it reminds us of the role of school and university students and their protests against the apartheid regime. Both memorials are located just a short distance from where the 12-year-old student was shot dead.
Rosebank Art & Craft Market – as a most interesting and vibrant shopping district in the heart of Rosebank, the market is home to the widest selection of South African arts and crafts and other handcrafted items such as traditional fabrics, jewelry and ceramics from across the continent.
Nelson Mandela Square – located directly at the Sandton City Shopping Center enjoy a good cup of coffee after some retail therapy at shopping center.
